Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Develop, revise, and perform peer reviews of Quality Control Inspection Plans related to mechanical, piping and welding, in accordance with Design Output documents, Codes, and Standards;
Perform field related inspections in accordance with Quality Control Inspection Plans. Document inspection results on applicable inspection records and issue Non- Conformance reports as required;
Review product and process compliance with all specified drawings, specifications, and other requirements through inspection and/or review of supplied materials and equipment;
Supervise and direct quality control engineers assigned to perform inspections and surveillance in support of project work and/or maintenance activities;
Provide quality control support to construction management and direct personnel to implement quality requirements and to accurately status the results;
Establish priorities which support construction/operation's needs;
Resolve complex problems which develop during the implementation of quality activities by coordinating with internal and external departments;
Provide leadership which inspires efficient performance of assignments, safe work habits, timely exchange of information and each individuals' commitment to site policies;
Participate in contract discussions relating to quality activities;
Prepare comprehensive status reports for construction quality activities;
Review and approve subcontractors' quality procedures and monitor their adherence to those procedures;
Coordinate the activities of assigned quality control engineers and with other construction departments to ensure that construction is in compliance with site specifications and standards;
Prepare quality procedures to ensure proper inspection, testing and surveillance activities are being performed;
Provide effective quality training programs and ensure assigned personnel are qualified to perform assigned tasks; and
Prepare performance evaluations of assigned personnel

Education and Licensure

Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline with at least 8 years (8-10 years preferred) of practical experience in construction inspection or related areas or equivalent combination of education and experience is required; an associate's degree and at least 10 years (10-12 years preferred) of practical experience; or a high school diploma and at least 12 years (12-16 years preferred) of practical experience would be considered equivalent.

Due to federal contract security requirements, candidates must be able to successfully pass a federal background investigation to secure and maintain DOE Q security clearance. (required)

Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
Well-developed organizational and supervisory skills and good communication talents are required.
Certification in areas of responsibility are required with ongoing programmatic training per the requirements of the project quality program.
Prior work experience working under an ASME NQA-1 quality program.
Prior DOE work experience.

Preferred Qualifications and Location Details

Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years.
Practical field experience in mechanical, piping, and welding quality control within the past 16 months.
Candidates with an AWS CWI or prior SNT-TC-1A VT Level II certification.
Contract Duration – One year base with two renewal year options
Location – Onsite in Aiken, SC. Local candidates or willing to relocate at the candidate’s expense.
Work Schedule – Monday to Friday 630 am – 430pm
