Department Overview

The Tech PR Section is responsible for communications activities for the technology-related aspects of Rakuten Group, focusing on infrastructure, platforms, AI and data, and security.

Position Details

In this role in Tech PR Section, you will be part of a team leading efforts to communicate the technology-related aspects of Rakuten with audiences in Japan and overseas. Your position will involve formulating PR strategies for tech-related announcements and activities. You will communicate new technologies and strategies, and their impact on the company and the industry. You will aim to build and strengthen relations with media, particularly tech media. You will also support the communications activities for senior executives in tech, identifying, evaluating and targeting key speaking opportunities and events, as well as developing presentation materials. In the role, you will also manage communications through owned and social media channels and closely collaborate with other teams on the development and sharing of content.

Responsibilities:

- Supporting the development and execution of tech-related PR strategies for Rakuten Group.

- Planning and managing media interviews with tech executives and engineers.

- Coordinating press conferences and both internal and external events.

- Planning, drafting and distributing press releases and other materials for announcements.

- Responding to media inquiries on tech-related topics.

- Sharing information on tech-related topics externally through owned and social media channels.

- Creating and providing design support for tech executive presentations.

- Working closely with Rakuten’s tech community members and leadership to support PR activities.

Mandatory Qualifications:

- Good communication skills.

- Creative, driven, resourceful, collaborative and agile, with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

- Proactive mindset, with an interest in learning new skills.

- Collaborative, with proven ability to work effectively across diverse cultures and businesses.

- Native or bilingual fluency in Japanese.
- Business level English (TOEIC 800 or higher)

Desired Qualifications:

- Japanese and English translation experience.

- Experience in planning, writing, editing and distributing press releases and other corporate communications materials.

- Experience in the planning and execution of press conference and experience in media relations.

- Experience in the planning and execution of PR strategies.
- Experience in managing owned media and social media.
- Experience in the creation of presentations for executive speaking opportunities (Powerpoint, Keynote).
